Your Love Life in the Year of the Pig: Part 2

For most of us, the holiday festivities are long gone and we’re already weeks deep into the new year. This year, the Lunar New Year started on February 5th, 2019, and it also marked the beginning of the Year of the Pig. Yes, you heard right – Year of the Pig! Similar to sun/mood signs in astrology, the Chinese have their own form of zodiac signs: different animals are associated with each year, and your birth year indicates what animal sign you are. The superstition goes that if your sign is compatible with the current year’s sign, your year will be showered in good luck and fortune. On the flip side, if your sign is not compatible, you may run into some obstacles in one or more areas of your life.

In general, we can find some peace, happiness, and contentment under the Year of the peaceful, harmonious, leisure-loving Pig. There’s more emphasis on the earthly pleasures of intimacy, nature, fine food, and beautiful things. If you’ve been stressed out, this year is good to take a vacation, relax, and not work so hard.

As a couple’s therapist, I’m most interested in the realm of relationships. What does the Year of the Pig spell out for your love life? Will sparks fly or will they fizzle? Find your birth year and find out! (Before we jump into it, remember that this post is for fun! There’s no scientific guarantee that any predictions will or will not come true.)

SNAKE

Birth years of the Snake: 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013

In Chinese astrology, Snakes and Pigs are extreme opposites – meaning that you are in for a challenging year ahead in almost every aspect in your life. Unfortunately, you may find the frustrations from other areas of your life boiling over into your romantic life. Relationships are hit or miss this year. If you are in a relationship, you will have to put effort into keeping a happy home. If you’re looking for love, you will have to be proactive and outgoing in 2019, as being passive could lead to missed opportunities. Consider doing more of the pursuing than you’re used to. If you initiate, you are more likely to get a favorable response.

HORSE

Birth years of the Horse: 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014

The Year of the Pig brings in many blessings for the Horse. In terms of romance, you can expect to ride through the year without too many relationship bumps. This will be a good year for both single and coupled Horses. Overall, relationships will be blessed with harmony and support for each other. However, there will still be a few glitches and rough patches that will have to be navigated.

SHEEP

Birth years of the Sheep: 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015

Sheep will find that 2019 brings more opportunities for love and relationships. If you have been single, you’re in luck because that won’t be the case much longer! Not only will you meet and mingle with new people, but you will likely find a partner to build something strong with. Upgrades, marriage, and even pregnancy is likely for Sheep, as abundance energy is very strong this year. Even Sheep seeking help for fertility issues should have good luck this year.

MONKEY

Birth years of the Monkey: 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016

Monkeys should lay low and try not to push too hard this year. Bad antics and behavior can swiftly lead to arguments and disagreements that will be harmful to those close to you. That said, maintaining personal relationships may be challenging. You will have to put in an effort to maintain or grow relationships, as well as attract new ones. Arrogance and tactless behavior will work to your disadvantage. For example, you may crave adventure and everyone you know just wants to stay at home. Don’t push them and instead learn to create excitement in your own way. Try to be more thoughtful, understanding, and accommodating.

ROOSTER

Birth years of the Rooster: 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017

Relationships are hit or miss for single Roosters this year. If you are able to get out of your comfort zone, you have the opportunity to meet some great potential matches. Overall, this year calls for a light, casual approach to your love life. It may be more about flirting than finding your soulmate, so have fun with it! If you’re in a relationship, you can renew your love for each other by working on a project together or giving each other a little more freedom.

DOG

Birth years of the Dog: 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018

Dogs may have faced a difficult 2018, but those challenges helped you to mature and become more practical. These traits will help you make the best of opportunities in the new year. And there will be plenty of opportunities for you in all areas – including career, finances, and most importantly, relationships. However, remember that these opportunities don’t automatically ensure success. You will have to put in work and effort to experience gains.

No matter what your Chinese zodiac sign spells out for you, a new year means a chance for a fresh start. Those of you who had a rough 2018 are no doubt hoping for less stress and more happiness in 2019. Meanwhile, anyone fortunate enough to have had a great past year obviously wants that lucky streak to continue. As I said before, this post is just for fun. The only guarantee is that you will get out what you put in to this year!
