Meet Tori Velez
Tori Velez, LPC-A, NCC, M.S.

Hello! My name is Tori Velez, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor- Associate. My interest in mental health emerged around the time I was serving in the military. I noticed that there was a stigma and fear that floated around reaching out for help and listening to the body when it was saying, “I’ve had enough”, “I need a break” or “listen to me”. As a result, I’ve witnessed the effects of servicemembers suffering in silence from the load of trauma and pain weighing down on them daily. I knew that I wanted to create a safe space for clients to honor their mind, body, and spirit authentically.
I graduated with my BA in Psychology through Southern New Hampshire University while serving. Also, I graduated from University of St. Thomas with a M.S in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in May 2021. I have experience with working with adolescents in residential treatment centers and adults in intensive outpatient programs. Concerns I have worked with consisted of trauma, grief, addiction, mood disorders, somatic symptoms, self-esteem, sex/relationship related issues, and eating disorders. I have a passion for working with adults through change, grief, spirituality, identity, and trauma.
I believe that our body stores our experiences throughout time and can be a helping tool when integrated in therapy. Observing how your body reacts inside and outside of therapy can unlock parts of oneself that needs a voice and special attention without judgement. I like to incorporate therapy approaches such as mindfulness, body-centered (somatic work), expressive arts, and experiential activities personalized to the client’s needs. Also, I provide Heart-Centered therapy as a gentle and effective approach to reach my client’s root of trauma, disconnection, addiction, and presenting issues. My goal as a therapist is to encourage and walk alongside my client through their unique journey to true healing. I like to work with client’s through a culturally sensitive and holistic lens. As your therapist, I will maintain a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental space to explore and connect with your raw, beautiful, and authentic self.
